Brave Citizen Seoul-based sales company Finecut has got off to a busy start at Busan’s Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) closing a trio of deals on webtoon adaptation Brave Citizen, and picking up international rights to inspirational drama Victory.

Brave Citizen, a vigilante action movie, has been sold to Kadokawa Kplus for Japan, Moviecloud for Taiwan and Lumix Media for Vietnam, while inflight rights have gone to Kairos Distribution.

Directed by Park Jin-pyo (You Are My Sunshine), the film follows an aspiring female boxer who works as a teacher but dons a mask to secretly fight a violent student. The cast is headed by Shin Hae-sun (See You In My 19th Life) and Lee Jun-young (Mask Girl).

The film is produced by Korean OTT platform Content Waave and StudioN, a production company owned by Naver Webtoon, and co-produced by VOL Media and Oscar10studio. The original webtoon was serialized on the Comico platform in Korea and Japan.

Korean theatrical release is scheduled for October 25 with Mindmark, a cultural content company under the Shinsegae Group, handling distribution.

Meanwhile, Finecut also announced the acquisition of international rights to upcoming drama Victory, directed by Park Beom-su (Red Carpet) and produced by Anna Lee’s Annapurna Films with backing from Mindmark.

Set on a remote island, the film revolves around two girls who form a cheerleading club and start supporting the local under-achieving soccer team.

The cast is headed by Lee Hye-ri, a member of K-pop group Girl’s Day, and Park Se-wan (Life Is Beautiful), along with rising actor Lee Jeong-ha (Moving). The film is currently in post-production and Finecut will be showing the first promo at ACFM.
