Fashion King leads Finecut sales

TIFFCOM: South Korean sales company Finecut has announced a raft of deals led by romantic comedy Fashion King.
Finecut has sold Fashion King to China (Bona Film), Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan (Golden Harvest) and Thailand (Hoyaspotainment).
Due for local release Nov 6, the romantic comedy based on a popular web comic made its market premiere in Busan¡¯s Asian Film Market. Next Entertainment World (NEW) is distributing in Korea.
The film is about a high school kid who revamps himself with a makeover upon transferring schools in order to win the girl of his dreams and become the ¡®Fashion King¡¯.
Directed by Oh Ki-hwan (A Wedding Invitation), the film stars Joo Won from TV¡¯s Good Doctor, Ahn Jae-hyeon from TV¡¯s My Love From The Star, K-pop group f(x) member Sulli, and Park Se-young from TV¡¯s School 2013.
On the eve of Tokyo Film Festival market TIFFCOM (Oct 21-23), Finecut says they expect to close more deals throughout Asia.
The company has also sold Kim Ki-duk¡¯s Venice Days opener One On One to Japan (King Records) and Italy (Fil Rouge Media).
The maverick auteur¡¯s latest had already sold to Greece, ex-Yugo and Turkey after its premiere in Venice.
Hong Sang-soo¡¯s Hill Of Freedom, starring Kase Ryo, sold to Hong Kong (Edko Films) and Italy (Fil Rouge Media).
The film previously sold to territories including France and Japan after its world premiere in Venice¡¯s Orizzonti competition.
Lee Su-jin¡¯s Rotterdam Tiger Award winner Han Gong-ju,which also recently picked up Sitges¡¯ Best Feature prize in the New Visions section, sold to Japan (New Select) and China (Qiyi.com) in addition to Spain (Mediatres), UK (Third Window Films), France (Dissidenz).
Lee Don-ku¡¯s Berlinale Panorama title Fatal also went to Japan (Alcine Terran) and China (Qiyi.com) in addition to Malaysia (Hwa Yea Multimedia) and North America (Asian Media Rights).
Also, Huh Jing¡¯s hit thriller from last year, Hide And Seek, sold to Village Roadshow Pictures Asia for a Chinese-language remake.
The rights for the original film sold to North America (Film Movement), Germany (Edel), Hong Kong and Macau (I-Cable Entertainment), Malaysia (Hwa Yea Multimedia), Taiwan (Eagle International) and China (Lemon Tree Media Company).
